Massican

July

Massican is Napa and Sonoma’s only white wine winery. With a singular focus on white varietals, each bottle captures the spirit of la dolce vita – Mediterranean wines, made in California.

The vision behind Massican comes from Dan Petroski, a former magazine publisher whose love for wine was sparked during work dinners and deepened by a transformative year living in Sicily. What began as an adventure led Petroski to discover a new calling: winemaking. Upon return to the States, he established his career in wine as a cellar master and winemaker before launching Massican Wines in 2009.

Relatively low in alcohol (<13%), high in refreshing acidity, with floral and citrus aromas, and a saline finish, the wines are made from 10 grape varieties planted in 13 vineyards on California’s North Coast. The vineyards are farmed at minimum with sustainable standards and at maximum with certified organic practices.

Massican doesn’t want to be your literal trip to Amalfi, it is the memory of your trip to Amalfi (or Friuli, or Sicily, or Nice, or Porto…). Great wines should conjure emotion, they should speak to something ephemeral. It’s the experience of the Mediterranean ideal.
