Founded in 1967 by Donn and Molly Chappellet, the Chappellet Winery tells a story of one family’s generational commitment to achieving their dreams.

In 1966, Donn Chappellet took a leap of faith to prove that he could produce California wines that would rival those of Bordeaux. Leaving his long and successful career in business, he purchased 320 acres of rugged, rocky terrain known as Pritchard Hill, where Chappellet Winery still stands today. Despite the challenges of farming on its steep slopes, Donn was determined to prove that mountain vineyards could produce world-class fruit with its volcanic soils, varied elevations, diverse exposures, and a warm, dry climate.

His persistence paid off, as to this day, Chappellet Winery is recognized as one of the great estates of Napa Valley. Now led by the second generation of the Chappellet family, Donn’s vision continues to be brought to life, harvest season after harvest season, bottle after bottle.
